short film, 4:3, color, sound, 5’11’’
A visual interpretation of the Fragment 31 written by Sappho, “to touch the sky with two arms” is a short film about lovesickness and the strong physical and emotional reaction of the body in relation to the loved one. It’s a dialogue with the Ancient Greek poet, a research and analysis of feelings, movements and words. The fire is present as a metaphor for the emotions Sappho feels for the beloved one – burning with jealousy, love, and pain – but also as an element that is present in the written text and in other fragments of the poet.
