zummed out [WiSe2019/20]

"Zummed Out" is a project born in collaboration with Zoe Spehr and Ernst August Graefe, for the exhibition "Mother" at the Designtransfer in Berlin. Our project is a reflection on the importance of insects for the ecosystem and for human beings.

Bees are about 80% involved in the pollination of crops and wild plants. The concrete consequences of global bee disappearance are difficult to assess

but certainly serious. Substantial changes in our food production would turn everyday items such as fruit, vegetables and grains into luxury items that the average consumer could rarely afford. Consequences of this involuntary dietary change include vitamin deficiencies and an increased incidence of diseases.
